Dr. Lena Richardson
was born in South Carolina, however as a young child we
moved to New York City, where I attended public schools
from elementary to high school.
Region #6 with an extensive background in administration,
which include serving as Special Assistant for New
Schools with the Chancellor's District, time as Director
of Funded Programs in CSD 19 and as principal of an
elementary school in Nassau County, as well as the New
York City Public School System. I became principal of
P.S. 279 in late August 2003.
with my work in a variety of capacities in the education
field, I hold several academic degrees, including a
Doctorate of Educational Leadership from St. John's
University, an M.S. in Remedial and Developmental Reading
from City College and a B.S. in Public Administration
from Medgar Evers College.
past two decades I have strengthened my educational
credentials by obtaining numerous licenses and
certifications, including Senior Curriculum Development
and Instructional Specialist, Senior Staff Development
Specialist, and Director of Funded Programs.

school community. This is a wonderful setting for me to
continue my educational career. I am very excited and I
am certain that this will be a productive school year
with many successes.
